A morning one special he/she took place in The Provincial Address of Sports, after being known the death January 6 2019 José’s death Ramón Fernandez, Hero of the Republic of Cuba to the 95 year-old age.
The Galician Fernández, as he/she knew him our town, he/she was born November 4 1923 in Santiago from Cuba. From very young it participated in the revolutionary fight against the tyranny batistiana in movements conspirativos with different military and political groups, reason for which kept prison during almost three years in Island of Pines.
To the victory of the Revolution he/she incorporated to the Revolutionary armed forces, it participated in the fight against bandits, as well as in the address of the combats in Beach Girón, under the Commandant’s orders in Boss of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.
In the Ministry of the Revolutionary armed forces it occupied different responsibilities, among them director of the School of Cadets of the Rebellious Army, of the School of Responsible for Militias of Matanzas and of the Schools of Battalions of Militias of the county of Havana; boss of the Address of Combative Preparation and Vice minister of the FAR.
He/she also acted as First Vice minister and Minister of Education, Vice-president of the council of Ministers and Advisory of the President of the Council of State and of Ministers. From 1997 until October of the 2018 presided over the Cuban Olympic Committee, year in that it was elect as their Honorary President Vitalicio.
It showed the condition of Founder of the Communist Party of Cuba, it integrated their Central Committee from the First Congress in 1975 and it was substitute member of the Political Desk from 1980 to 1991.
Deputy to the National Assembly of the Popular Power from their constitution in 1976 and member of the Council of State among the years 1981 and 1993.
Graduate in Social Sciences and Professor of Merit of the Pedagogic University Enrique Male José. They were conferred the doctorates Honoris it Causes in Education of the University of Havana; in Military Sciences of the Academy of the Maximum General FAR Gómez and in Sciences of the Physical Culture and the Sport of the University of Sciences of the Physical Culture, as well as the doctorate in Historical Sciences of the University of East.
For their merits he/she received numerous orders, medals and badges. In the year 2001 were conferred the honorary title of Hero of the Republic of Cuba.
